Sounds Game?

For our April Third Thursday, we're thinking about heading to the newly renovated Greer Stadium for a Sounds game. The Sounds are taking on the Oklahoma City Redhawks on Thursday, April 16, at 7 PM. With enough interest, we can reserve a block of tickets or even a party deck.

If you're interested in going to the game, email us at midtn_lambuthalumni@hotmail.com and let us know. We hope to see you there!

New 3rd Thursday Location

Since our first Third Thursday happens to fall on the first Thursday of the NCAA basketball tourney, we are going to move our event across the street to Jackson's. Sam's may prove a bit of a challenge, so we'll hope for a more relaxed environment just across the way. Please come out and join us (Thursday, 3/19, at 5:30) if you can!

Super Eagle Satruday

Lambuth is hosting a "Super Eagle Saturday" on April 4. According to Candy Donald, director of alumni relations, "We want April 4th to be a big celebration of all the things that make Lambuth such a wonderful place. There will be something for all age groups--art, music, athletics, games for the kids, etc."

There is a full schedule of events planned, everything from greek open houses to LU-oriented scavenger hunts. (If you'd like the detailed schedule, email bdyce23@yahoo.com.) If any MTLA are in the Jackson area--or up for a drive--on Saturday, April 4, we hope you'll stop by!

Planning Committee Update

The MTLA Planning Committee met tonight at Back to Cuba. Our conversation focused on helping Lambuth with its recruitment efforts and implementing our Third Thursday events. On the former, we discussed several ideas such as developing a list of MTLA willing to serve as "admission contacts" for prospective students and their families who are living in Middle TN. If any alumni is interested, please let us know by commenting on this particular post.

In regard to Third Thursdays, we'll be hosting our first event this month. We'll be at Sam's in Hillsboro Village on March 19 at 5:30. Our goal is for this to be an informal time to network with fellow alumni; we hope everyone will come out. But if you can't make it, we'll be moving our Third Thursdays "around town" each month to reach out to as many alumni as possible. Stay tuned for future locations!

Our next committee meeting will be Tuesday, April 14, at 6:30 at Panera on 21st. Join us if you can!

Announcing "Third Thursdays"

Starting this month, the MTLA will host "Third Thursdays" as a way to provide informal networking events for Lambuth alum. (Those who completed our interest survey at the December reception indicated that networking events were a primary interest!) So, the idea is simple: the third Thursday of each month we'll have a "get-together" at an area restaurant or venue. And we'll spread them around the Nashville area to reach as many alumni as possible.

Our first Third Thursday will be March 19 at Sam's in Hillsboro Village. Plan on 5:30 until... Also, we'll head out for a Sounds game in April, and in May, we'll be in Cool Springs. More details on these--and other events--will be posted here on the blog, so please check back often and soon!

Success at Trevecca

Lambuth enjoyed three major successes at last week's basketball games against Trevecca. Not only did both teams win, but we also had 25 alumni attend our meet-and-greet reception. (There was also a great mix of classes represented, even two members of the 50 Year Club attended!) Everyone had the opportunity to visit with Dr. Israel and the other members of the newly appointed senior leadership--and to hear about the many great things happening at Lambuth.

For those who missed it, we hope to see you at our next event!

Alumni Art Event?

MTLA planning committee is looking into hosting a MTLA Art Show in the late spring/early summer. We would like to showcase and auction art created by the alumni and friends of Lambuth. All proceeds would benefit Lambuth.

We use the term "art" loosely to encompass any creative expression (painting, drawing, sculpting, writing, jewelry making, card making, woodworking, bedazzling, etc.). Any artists interested in submitting work(s) should contact the event curator, Niki Rager, at AlliNicole@aol.com .
